How to build a crypto portfolio
Step 1: Write the goal in one sentence
"Accumulate BTC for 10 years" and "trade alt narratives quarterly" need different structures. If you cannot state the goal, pause before buying more coins.
Step 2: Choose allocation buckets
Many long-term investors use mental buckets (not advice):
- Core — BTC, ETH (liquidity, benchmark exposure)
- Satellite alts — Smaller positions with clear theses
- Stablecoin buffer — 20–35% for some profiles; buffer guide
- Yield sleeve — Binance Earn for idle stables; Earn vs spot
Step 3: Connect safely on Binance
Create read-only API keys and sync to a dashboard so weights stay accurate after every rally. Spreadsheets fail when Earn and futures hide exposure.
Step 4: Set review cadence
Weekly: health score + brief. Monthly: rebalance check. Quarterly: revisit goals. Use 5 signs you need a review between scheduled dates.
Step 5: Measure structure, not just P&L
Green portfolios can still be fragile — one alt at 60% is a bet, not a plan. Smitvi's health score grades diversification, buffer, and yield so you see structure before price reverses.
