Why holders are targeted

Crypto transfers are irreversible. Scammers optimize for fear (account freeze), greed (airdrop), and authority (fake Binance support). Portfolio trackers and tax tools are also spoofed to harvest logins or API keys. Assume any unexpected link is hostile until verified.

Common attack patterns

• Fake support — Telegram/X DMs claiming withdrawal freeze; link to credential harvest site.
• Malicious approvals — Wallet popup granting unlimited token spend; drain follows.
• Seed phrase entry — Any website or app asking for 12/24 words is a scam. Period.
• Trading API keys with withdraw — Attacker empties account via API if scopes allow.
• Clipboard malware — Swaps paste address to attacker wallet on send.
• Fake apps — Sideloaded APKs mimicking exchanges or portfolio tools.

Defense layers that actually help

1. Bookmark exchanges — Type smitviai.com and binance.com yourself; never click ads.
2. Hardware wallet for long-term storage — security guide.
3. Read-only API only for analytics — API setup.
4. Withdrawal whitelist on Binance with 24h delay for new addresses.
5. Separate email for crypto accounts; unique strong passwords + 2FA app (not SMS).
6. Verify domain — SSL alone is not enough; scammers buy certs too.

Calendar it with your portfolio review:

• Revoke unused API keys in Binance
• Check connected apps / wallet approvals on chains you use
• Confirm 2FA device still in your possession
• Search email for recent "password reset" you did not request
• Re-read safe tracking habits if you added new tools

If you think you clicked something bad

Disconnect network, revoke API keys from a clean device, move remaining funds to a new wallet if seed may be compromised, contact exchange support through official site only. Speed matters; panic-clicking more links makes it worse.
