Crypto DCA guide for long-term holders

What DCA actually solves

Dollar-cost averaging spreads entries across weeks or months so you are less likely to deploy everything at a local top. It also reduces decision fatigue: the calendar buys, you log the fill, you move on. What DCA does not solve is oversized exposure, missing stablecoin buffers, or ignoring concentration when one coin rallies.

A simple DCA framework

1. Define the sleeve — How much of net worth is in the DCA plan? Keep it separate from trading or alt speculation budgets.
2. Pick cadence — Weekly or bi-weekly often beats daily for most salaried investors; monthly works if fees matter on small tickets.

4. Log every fill — Date, amount, asset, INR/USD rate if needed for records. Pair with tax record habits.
5. Review quarterly — DCA into BTC for years can still leave you 80% BTC if you never rebalance. Use health score checks.

When to pause (without abandoning the plan)

Written plans beat mood. Common pause triggers investors document in advance:

• Emergency fund below target — fix cash first
• Single asset already above concentration band (~25%)
• Major life liquidity need in the next 12 months
• Market health in Stressed regime — pause new risk, not necessarily existing holds

Pausing buys is not "timing the market" if your plan says so. Resume when triggers clear.
